Volunteer Roles:
There are various roles that are required throughout the event. The following provides an overview of these roles. Roles will be assigned on the day and may vary but may include:
- Registration desk – recording participant information
- Water and Food – give out food and water to participants and ensure supplies are accessible and available
- Selling raffle tickets
- Entertaining the kids as “Bandaged Bear”
- General Cleaning and site maintenance
- General support for walkers
- Set Up/Tear Down – Every event needs help prior to and after the hours. Tasks will include moving boxes, setting tables, organizing information, gathering materials, posting signage, cleaning, etc.
- Money collection – Collect donations from the general public
- Information – Provide directions and information to participants, supporters and general public
- Walker Gear – storage and retrieval
- Walker Support – Provide adhoc support to walkers, check on their safety and well being and provide encouragement
- Merchandise Sales
- Liase with other volunteers such as St Johns Ambulance, Entertainers
- Safety Monitoring
- BBQ
The day will have very busy periods especially with registration and walker support. Volunteers will need to arrive on time for their shift and be prepared to be flexible and help out as required.
Volunteers are organised into various shifts:
- Shift 1 – 1am – 3.30am
- Shift 2 – 3.30am – 7 am
- Shift 3 – 6.30am – 11.30am
- Shift 4 – 11am – 3pm
- Shift 5 – 2.30pm – 5.30pm
